How it works
- Converted on your device. Photos are not uploaded. The conversion engine (libheif) is loaded into your browser and decodes the photo right on your device.
- Capture details are removed. The JPEG contains no location (GPS), date taken or device information. If you're about to send the photo, converting and removing the location happen in one step.
- Up to 20 photos at a time, converted one by one. The first conversion takes a few extra seconds while the engine loads. In Safari the browser opens HEIC by itself, so no engine is needed.
- Quality is 90% by default. Lower it for smaller files, or set 100% for prints.
Questions
I want to keep the date taken.
For now the converter always removes all information. If you need the date, set iPhone Settings > Photos > Transfer to Mac or PC to Automatic and copy the photos to a computer, or shoot in JPEG from the start with Settings > Camera > Formats > Most Compatible.
My browser asks for permission when I tap "Download all".
When downloading several files at once, Chrome and other browsers ask once. Allow it and the converted photos are saved one after another.
