Privacy policy

Service: PhotoBookInfo · Effective: October 15, 2026 · Version 1.8 · This is a translation; if it differs from the Korean original, the Korean text prevails.

PhotoBookInfo (the "Service") is a tool that reads the capture information (metadata) of photo files you choose, inside your own browser, and shows it to you. The operator of the Service (the "Operator") explains here how your information is handled, in line with the Personal Information Protection Act of the Republic of Korea and other applicable laws.

1. Photo files and metadata: not collected

• Files you choose are read only in your browser's memory. They are not sent to the Operator's servers, and the Operator cannot access them.
• The metadata read from them (date taken, device, location coordinates, etc.) is only shown on screen and is not written to browser storage (localStorage, IndexedDB, cookies, cache). Temporary handling of photos received through the Share menu is described in section 4.
• Location (GPS) information is hidden by default and shown only when you tap the "Location found" button. The Service never sends coordinates to a map, address lookup or any other outside service on its own.
• The "Open in external map" link next to the coordinates opens Google Maps in a new window only when you tap it, and at that moment the coordinates are passed to Google as part of the URL. This happens only by your choice; the Operator is not involved and keeps no record.
• The preview, the embedded thumbnail and "Save clean copy" are also processed inside your browser. Saved copies are written only to your device through the browser's download function and are not passed to the Operator.
• The HEIC to JPEG converter also runs only inside your browser. Photos are not uploaded, results are saved only to your device, and the converted JPEGs contain no capture information, including location.
• Accordingly, the Operator does not collect, use or provide location information.

This is implemented by isolating the viewer in a separate secure frame (a sandboxed iframe with a network-blocking content security policy). Before release we confirmed with browser developer tools that nothing is sent out (last checked on the live site on October 15, 2026).

2. Information processed because of ads

The Service shows Google AdSense ads to cover running costs. In serving ads, Google and its ad partners may process the information below under their own policies. The Operator does not collect or keep this information.

• Visitors from the EU, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent first through a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP), and no personalized-ad cookies are set before consent.
• You can block cookies in your browser settings. The viewer keeps working if you do.

3. Access logs

The Service is hosted on Cloudflare Workers by Cloudflare, Inc. For operation and security, the host may keep access logs containing IP address, time of access, requested URL and browser information for a short period under its own policy. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see aggregate statistics such as visit counts, pages and browser types. It uses no cookies, does not identify individuals and cannot access files or metadata inside the viewer. The Operator uses no other analytics tools such as Google Analytics.

4. Values stored in your browser

The Service stores only the following in your browser. None of it is sent to the Operator, and all of it is deleted when you clear the site's data.

• Notice acknowledgement: whether you have dismissed the notice once (photoback.noticeAck), in localStorage. It cannot identify you.
• Language choice: in the Android app, if you switch between English and Korean, that choice (photoback.lang) is kept in localStorage so the app opens in the same language next time.
• Site files for offline use: so the site opens without internet, its pages, scripts and icons are kept in the browser cache (service worker). Your photos and metadata are never stored in this cache.
• Photos received through the Share menu (installed Android web app): when you choose PhotoBookInfo in your phone's Share menu, the browser keeps the photo in its cache briefly to hand it to the page. As soon as the page receives it, the whole cache is deleted. The photo is not uploaded during this process either.

4-1. Android app (PhotoBookInfo app)

The Android app follows the same principles as the website. Photos are processed only on your device and are never sent to the Operator. The app-only behaviour is as follows.

• Photos received through the Share menu: a photo shared to PhotoBookInfo from another app is copied briefly to the app's private temporary folder so the screen can read it, and deleted as soon as it is read. Anything left over is also deleted when the app restarts.
• Save to gallery: a cleaned photo or converted JPEG is saved to the device's "Pictures/PhotoBookInfo" album only when you tap "Save to gallery" (on Korean-language phones the album is named "포토북인포"). On Android 10 and later no permission is needed; on Android 9 and earlier the app asks for storage permission. The app never asks for permission to read all your photos.
• Send: tapping "Send" creates a cleaned copy in the app's private temporary folder and opens your phone's share sheet. You choose the receiving app, and what happens next follows that app's policy. The temporary copy is deleted the next time you open the app.
• Ads: the current app version has no ads. If ads are added, we will update this policy first.

5. Retention

The Operator does not collect or keep your personal information, so it holds none. Retention of information processed by the ad provider and the host follows their own policies.

6. Your rights

The Operator holds no information that identifies you, so there is nothing to access, correct or delete. You can exercise your rights over ad-related information through the procedures in Google's privacy policy. Please send any questions about the Service to the contact below.

7. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 14 and does not knowingly collect children's personal information.

9. Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, we post the changes and the reasons on this page 7 days before they take effect.
